The surfing-wave style tsunami shown in the movie also doesn't happen. "They can't be bigger than the ocean is deep," says Jones ( ). It is nowhere near the height of the tsunami in the movie, which washes over the Golden Gate Bridge's roadway, standing roughly 270 feet above the water. Seismologist Lucy Jones says that a large tsunami is 50 feet high. Is the size of the giant tsunami we see in the movie plausible? Also, the San Andreas Fault is vertical, so even if it did go underwater someday, it wouldn't cause the ocean floor to move up or down that much, which is necessary for a large tsunami. There hasn't been an active subduction zone under San Francisco or Los Angeles for millions of years. As a result, the sea floor is deformed and a tsunami is created. Also, tsunamis caused by earthquakes are created at subduction zones, places where tectonic plates collide and one plate is pushed under another. Lucy Jones, due to the fact that the San Andreas Fault is mostly on land, it will never create a large tsunami. Disaster Movies: The Cinema of Catastrophe. The position of the key light can create different effects, especially in terms of height (Bordwell, 2008). Low key lighting is normally used to create dramatic effects as it did when the guy was performing CPR on the girl. The backlight helps place the subject in space, making the subject appear more three dimensional. The fill light is used from a contrasting angle to help fill in the gaps where the key light does not hit. The key light usually has a fast falloff that lights most of the subject.

The lighting in this film was 3-point lighting in which it varied, reason being is the location of the actors while filming. This film began with a young girl driving in her SUV through the mountains edge, which showed from different angles from the camera that she was at pretty high elevation . Although we have advanced so far in the world of technology and no longer have to build models of cities just to destroy them, to film a movie through CGI(computer generated imagery) can be challenging especially when attempting to create something to look as authentic as possible. Before I even begin, I must say that in opposition to all of the negative reviews that this film has been receiving, after seeing it yesterday I highly object.
